ORDERING INFORMATIONHow It All BeganMy wife and I were going crazy trying to figure out a way to teach our youngest daughter how to accomplish the simplest of tasks within a reasonable period of time. Our frustration level was reaching the maximum. One morning the idea struck us to make a simple tape recording to replace our constantly running in and out of her room to remind her to stay on task. This idea has significantly reduced our anxiety level and her reactions to our emotional states. She relates to us in a much more positive manner because most of the stress has been eliminated by the use of this simple idea. In actuality it’s almost a fun way for her to complete basic tasks. Sample Script ListThe following list is placed here for the parent(s), caregiver(s), or significant other to help accomplish basic, everyday life skills in the ADD child. A tape would be recorded with the voice of the parent, caregiver, or significant other giving instructions as outlined in the sample scripts below. The scripts can be adapted to fit any task you wish the child to accomplish. It is emphasized here that this list can also apply to the adult that has been diagnosed with ADD. In the case of an adult, the script would be adapted to support the adult’s ADD disability. In other words, the statements on the tape would be geared toward an adult listener. (Please refer to our article posted on this web site as to exactly how these scripts work with the ADD individual.) Here are examples of scripts which might help: Getting out of bed CostEach of these scripts is $12.00, including postage and handling. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
