Connie Saindon, MFT

Connie Saindon, M.A. is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has provided outpatient services since 1979 in private practice in San Diego, California. Her practice includes adults, couples and families. Her specialties include depression and traumatic grief. She also serves as the Executive Director of a non-profit service for those impacted by violent death.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Connie Saindon, M.A. is able to offer a wide range of services. She begins with a systemic view whereby problems and solutions are seen as maintained in the presence of others. Assessment is ongoing and includes early identification of resiliencies that are used to reduce symptoms and increase autonomy. Her approach is success-driven and integrates over twenty years of experience. She begins with brief, behavioral strategies. If goals are not achieved then the next level of "meaning based" strategies such as cognitive therapy will be considered. This area includes multi-cultural and gender influences as well. When problems persist, she will move to the third and deeper level of her approach and explores "family of origin" and historical contributions.

Connie Saindon, MFT is listed among the few specialists in the field of violent death bereavement. She is the Founder the Survivors of Violent Death Program in San Diego which began in1998. She has provided program development, clinical services, training and supervision of medical residents, interns and area clinicians. Ms. Saindon’s interest is related to the loss of her sister, aged 17, to homicide in 1961.

Ms Saindon has a faculty appointment at the University of California, San Diego Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry. She is contributing author of Violent Death: Resilience and Intervention Beyond the Crisis, Edited by Edward Rynearson.

When not pursuing her professional interests she can be found kayaking in both the Atlantic and Pacific, walking her dog or taking photographs
