Ruth Cherry, Ph.D.

Ruth Cherry, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist in private practice in San Luis Obispo, CA. Her interest lies with healing. In thirty-five years doing psychotherapy, she has learned that the unconscious is the basis for healing, healing happens through by experiencing, and imagery is the language of the unconscious.

The unconscious has many dimensions and during midlife the unconscious becomes more active than it has been since early childhood. Always drawing us to heal, the unconscious presents us with experiences which, if we trust and allow, pull us to a healing which our minds can't imagine. Trusting unconscious guidance is our life challenge and the foundation for all of Ruth's writing.

Her first book, "Good People," discusses the unconscious in terms of subpersonalities. With its imagery exercises and journaling questions it guides the reader to work with her own subpersonalities to heal.

Her second book, "Matters of the Soul," expands the notion of the unconscious from the personal psychological to include the transpersonal. Through imagery exercises the reader taps her own spiritual resources to shift her consciousness.

"Meditation for Skeptics" introduces the reader to meditation in psychological terms without any traditional or religious overtones. Based on her own experience, the reader learns to follow her inner world's direction. A guided meditation CD provides new meditators with frequent prompts to frame their meditations.

Ruth's two works of spiritual fiction educate as they entertain. "Open Your Heart, A Mid-Life Fable" describes the journey of integration in a forty-something woman as her subpersonalities take form and present her with advice which is wise, funny, and healing. In "Something's Going On Here" a retired professor discovers magic and mystery around him and within him as he learns to trust his own life process.
